New 7 inch vinyl record from GravelRoad "Weavin'" b/w "Flesh and Bone"

On October 8 in Europe and November 14 in the US, GravelRoad is releasing a new 7 inch vinyl record consisting of 2 tracks (Weavin’ b/w Flesh and Bone) that were recorded in 2014 during the El Scuerpo Sessions. The release of this 7 inch record coincides with their European tour that starts on October 8 in Amsterdam and with a tour home-coming show at The Tractor Tavern in Seattle on November 14. The songs on this record are not only stripped to the bone, but also among the weirdest recordings by GravelRoad to date. Dealing with themes of public indecency, intoxication, tracheotomies, and cannibalism, they are truly covering some new lyrical territory here while staying true to their hill country and heavy blues-rock roots. The extra crunchy guitars and saucy vocals backed by a rhythm section dripping with salty, smoky and brawny juices will make you hungry for more.

The Obelsisk had this to say about the upbeat “Flesh and Bone” – “among the happiest songs I’ve ever heard about cannibalism”.

New Releases from Knick Knack Records

GravelRoad is entering the studio at the end of August to being recording their new album with Jack Endino in Seattle. This will be their 6th studio album and is very much a return to their psychedelic hill country blues roots.
Following their studio work, they will return to Nashville for the Muddy Roots Festival where they will perform with legendary acts including The Del McCoury Band, Ricky Skaggs, Dr. Ralph Stanley, Peter Rowan, Possessed by Paul James and many more. Then it's off to Europe in October for a tour which will includes some dates in France with fellow label mates Teleferik.  Upon returning home to Seattle they will release the 7" vinyl record "Weavin' " b/w "Flesh & Bone" with a celebration at the Tractor Tavern with friends Hillstomp

Low Hums led by Jonas Haskins, (a decades-long veteran of Pacific Northwest bands like Earth and Sera Cahoone) are releasing their new EP "Adventuring In The Near and Far" on September 22.  The album release show will be at the Sunset Tavern in Seattle on September 24.  The recordings were done in a beautiful old church in Anacortes, Washington and features a guest appearance by Skerik on saxophone.  This EP is just a taste of the work they are doing on their upcoming full length LP, which promises to be their best work yet.

Teleferik are one of the newest additions to the Knick Knack Records roster and we are excited to be working with this wonderfully talented group of musicians from Paris France.  Teleferik blends rock and blues with an abundance of soul on their new album "Lune Electric".  Singer and bassist Eliz Mourad brings the heat to this 10 track album with songs sung in English, French and Arabic.  The album was recorded and mixed by Peter Deimel at The Black Box Studio in Angers, France.

Sweet Jesus are releasing their debut album "Shortwave Oracle" on September 22 and are celebrating with the album release show at Lo-Fi Performance Gallery on September 25.  "Shortwave Oracle" showcases the bands clever and catchy songwriting as well as their ability to deliver a new level of sophistication in their performances.  The album was engineered and mixed by Ben Jenkins at The Killroom Studios in Seattle and Mastered by Dalton Brand at Wave Burner Recording.

GravelRoad / Tango Alpha Tango / The Pro & The Con at The Sunset Tavern February 27

GravelRoad is a Seattle band that seamlessly blends the trance of North Mississippi Hill Country Blues with the fuzz and power of heavy rock and roll. The band is hot off recent releases for local upstart label Knick Knack Records. 2012 saw the band release the widely acclaimed full length Psychedelta (one of Classic Rock Magazine’s Albums of the Year). 2013’s single Pedernales (recorded at Willie Nelson’s studio of the same name) was quickly followed by the full length album, The Bloody Scalp of Burt Merlin (“GravelRoad’s “The Bloody Scalp of Burt Merlin” is one of those rare albums from whose wholly exceptional songs it proves more than a little difficult to choose favorites.” – James Carlson, No Depression

The new album, El Scuerpo, was released once again on Knick Knack Records in the fall of 2014, and follows in the footsteps of their signature mix of the Hill Country and the Heavy by widening the scope of their sound even further. If Black Sabbath had grown up in Holly Springs, Mississippi, they might sound like where GravelRoad is heading, with their feet firmly grounded and pedals to the floor.

Portland’s Tango Alpha Tango is best experienced amid a crowded room of sweaty guitar junkies. Logically, then, a well-mixed live album is the next greatest thing. Captured last year at local recording space Banana Stand, the performance delivered by the quartet tackles a sprawling beast in 12 songs. From the first bluesy electric-guitar riff in “Kill & Haight” to the gritty energy of “Black Cloud,” the record not only translates frontman Nathan Trueb’s ability to write a good tune and dominate a guitar neck, but also the band’s flawless fusion of blues and rock with funky bass lines and psychedelic keys. Trueb explores his folkier singer-songwriter side on “Desert Snow,” a song composed simply of his scratchy, worn-in voice and supplementary fingerpicking. But with nearly half the songs on the set list running eight minutes or longer, many of the album’s gems surface when Trueb cracks them open with his guitar. In lengthy tracks like the trippy “In My Time of Dying” and the driving rock jam “Mona Lisa’s Death,” the frontman disassembles ideas, draws out phrases and slowly builds them up again. Although the album doesn’t quite hit with the impact of experiencing the band in the flesh, it comes pretty damn close. -Emily Booher, Willamette Week

The Pro & The Con:

This Seattle two piece brings pulsating drums and electrified acoustic surrounding some low down vocals. It's grit and grime to go with your bourbon.

KEXP Song of the Day: GravelRoad - Green Grass

By ANNA MCCLAIN

"While country blues may not be the first genre that comes to mind when thinking of Seattle, local group GravelRoad takes on the Hill blues genre and adds their own Northwest rock ‘n’ roll spin. These guys aren’t just “worn down white dudes” trying to play the blues, they’re the authentic deal -- they earned their stripes backing the late Delta blues musician T-Model Ford. With their latest release, El Scuerpo, out this year, the band took their sound overseas for a European tour, returning stateside to play blues festivals like Deep Blues Northwest.

GravelRoad describes their sound on El Scuerpo as “if Black Sabbath had grown up in Holly Springs, Mississippi”, and today’s featured song, “Green Grass”, certainly proves the group’s ability to blend genre. Featuring heavy, molten guitar riffs, clobbering beats, and dark, rich vocals, the song evokes psychedelic, hill country blues, punk, and rock ‘n’ roll influences in such a way that you may begin to fantasize about riding a motorcycle and even contemplate incorporating more leather into your wardrobe."
